  • First of all make sure he keeps hydrated.. lots of fluids. Water, gatorade, Pedialyte. This is the most important thing. Soup, I would maybe try some Campbell's Chicken and Noodle soup.. kids always like that.

  • the campbells chicken noodle is about a dollar a can and most kids love it. You can buy it with fun shapes like fish and letters and things like that too.

  • I don't understand why he cant have any medicine but you can try talking to a pharmacist if hes allergic or has reactions to medicine. They ALWAYS have something you can give them or give you advice on natural remedies.

  • Flu or runny nose? Two (or three) different things.

Flu (stomach bug)....don't give him anything food-wise if he's vomiting. He should go without vomiting for at least 6 hours before giving any food. Stick to water only until his stomach settles.

Flu (respiratory infection)...follow the doctor's orders and he should have told you something to do for your toddler.

Runny nose (cold)'s not the soup itself that does it, but the warm, moist steam from the bowl of soup. Steam him in the bathroom and if he'll let you, suction his nose out. Run a vaporizer (or cool mist humidifier) in his room, elevate his head and give him Tylenol for discomfort. At 2 years of age...he can have some cold remedies provided you are very careful about the dosage. However, the more medicine you give him for symptom relief, the longer it's going to take him to get rid of the cold.
