naps for a 5 mth old?

my 5 mth old doesnt really take naps during the day. if he does its usually for 20 minutes and then he wakes. he doesnt really whine through out the day. i just dot know if he should he be taking longer naps or is that ok?

  • He will sleep if he is tired, no worries!

    But something that you might want to try is putting him down anyways for a nap and see what happens.

    My 8 month old sometimes gets so caught up and excitied to be playing that she does not act like she is tired. But if I know her nap time has come and gone, sometimes I will take her and lay her in her crib, and 10 mins later she is sleeping! lol

  • Both my kids took two-- 1 1/2 hr naps a day at that age. Sleep is very important for their growth and development. I would discuss it with your ped. & try to make a plan to make sure baby is getting enough sleep.
