  • Sloppy joe: brown the ground meat, add ketchup, mustard and brown sugar to taste.

Make soup with it. I call it "Clean out the fridge" soup. Add some veggies, some water or broth/stock, some tomato paste/sauce, some rice or noodles or potatoes and the meat. Simmer and serve.

My mom used to mix it with brown gravy (and sometimes a veggie) and serve it over buttered noodles or rice.

  • I'm not sure if they have Maid-Rites all over but we have these little restaraunts that make their hamburgers with loose meat.

I just brown the meat like I do if I'm making tacos, drain it, and serve it on a hamburger bun. Top it the same. It's a little different :)

  • Easy Hamburger Casserole

1 lb extra lean ground beef (or brown ground beef or turkey and drain fat)
    1 small chopped onion
    ½ tsp salt
    ½ tsp pepper
1 pkg (16 oz) frozen mixed vegetables
    1 can cheese soup
    1 (16oz) pkg tater tots

Heat oven to 375°. Mix beef, onion, salt, and pepper in ungreased 2 qt casserole. Arrange vegetables on meat. Pour soup over, cover with tater tots. Bake uncovered 1 hour or until potatoes are golden brown.

  • We get a kit from Walmart in the taco section. It's to make the cheesy gorditos from taco bell. Everyone loves them, it's reasonable and easy! You could also make lasagna.

  • I've posted that recipe before.
How about meatball subs (hoagies, depending on where you live.)

I used to have a recipe for hamburger soup but lost it. Chili is a lot like spaghetti. A friend had a recipe where she rolled pie dough into individual sized portions, and she'd put hamburger, potato slices, chopped onion, salt and pepper, and whatever other vegetable she wanted, sealed the edges, and baked- very tasty.

  • I love making shepherds pie. I brown the ground beef (1 lb) with an onion, then put it in the bottom of a casserole dish. Then on top of the burger, put 2 cans of drained corn and 1 can of creamed corn (I mix it up seperately, heat, then add it). For the top layer, make 8 servings of instant potatoes according to box and spread it on. Sprinkle shredded cheese on the top and bake at 350 until top bubbles a bit. I season each thing as I make it with salt and pepper too. This is how my mom and I both make it and its AWESOME!!

  • Shepherds pie with ground turkey is great!!! Meat balls are tasty with turkey too. We don't eat red meat in our house so everything that requires beef is made with turkey. It's healthier and has FAR less fat and no one can tell the difference...oh chili is always good too.
