Have you ever put french onion mix in your homemade vegetable beef soup?

Im going to make some homemade soup in the crock pot for dinner tom. I will put beef broth, rice, venison cubes, corn, green beans, carrots, diced canned tomatos, and seasoning. I thought about a packet of french onion soup mix. Has anyone tried this?

  • I use onion soup mix in a ton of stuff. It adds just the right kick most times. I also love cooking with salsa.

  • I would try 1/2 a packet first, since it's really salty and you don't want it to overwhelm all the goodness you already got going on!

  • I agree w/ jespeach, just try half at first. depends on how much you're making but I have done this before. I've also used it in meatloaf and meatballs

  • I have used regular onion soup mix with a roast. But using french onion in a soup sounds interesting! Let us know how it turns out.
