Moving with baby , advice?

So Ive been packing all week , and were probably going to start moving things in tomorrow night or sunday morning . But i need to know how to do this with a baby , my DD is 3 months . And she is on a really good schedule , I dont want to disrupt it . I need tips and advice to make this move easier with going back and forth , and unpacking ect . Also , Will She have a hard time adjusting to the new house , will she wake more , be more fussy ?

Oh , and right now she has her own room , but when we move she'll be in my room . Will this bother her?

TIA

  • Can someone watch her during the move? That would be a lot easier on her than going back & forth.

  • Just plan on having her bed there and set up first thing so she can nap there in her bed while you unpack. If someone else can bring you boxes to unpack while she naps it would work pretty well. As long as she has familiar things around her, the adjustment should go pretty smoothly, but do expect some disruption in sleep for the first few days or so.

  • when we were in the process of moving our oldest at the time was 6-7 months old. I neither had anyone to watch her so that we can move. So what I did was I moved the crib first what we did was we went back and forth loading and unloading things, but when it was naptime I stayed at the new place and unpacked things while she slept and dh went and moved things. So she still got her nap. She went right down for naps, but I can't say to much for bedtime because she didn't sleep through the night until 18 months. When we moved where we are now she was 19-20 months old. We did the samething, but once we moved her she wouldn't take naps anymore. She stayed asleep at night, but she would give me problems at going to sleep at first. Once I got her to sleep she was fine. Try moving the crib first and maybe unpacking while she naps and have dh bring things over to the new place.

  • Its going to be really hard if you want to do it without disrupting her at all. I guess just work around her nap times. Some babies have trouble with changes and adjustments and some are just fine. Thats not really something we can answer because we don't know her. I had one baby who did and one who didn't.

I just moved how any normal person would and unpacked when the baby was asleep or occupied. I also wore them in a wrap or carrier and unpacked or put them on the floor with stuff to play with or look at and worked while they did that

  • keep her on the schedule and have her bed be the first thing set up when you get there and try and do the move in as little trips as possible like rent a uhaul they are 30 bucks a day for a 2 bdrm apt sized place truck. If you are that concerned take breaks and being in her car seat for one day will not hurt just keep turning her head every time you put her back to sleep so you dont have to worry about flat spots then you dont have to break her schedule or worry to much about it..... good luck...
