How much milk should a 1 year old be getting?

Ever since he started using a cup instead of a bottle, it seems like he's getting alot less milk throughout the day. He does get other dairy products like yogurt and cottage cheese in addition to the other foods that he eats (usually just small bites of whatever we are having at mealtimes and also cut up fruits and veggies). How much milk should he be getting every day now?

  • about 18-24 ounces a day. You should be able to mix up what the baby is drinking at this age with other things like water, juice etc. Too much milk I was told can cause weight problems. At this age they start walking and are more active as well so they just rely less on milk then they did when they were younger.

  • As long as he's getting the right amount of DAIRY you're good. No more than 20-24oz of milk a day...

  • My pediatrician said to give our one-year-old an average of 20 ounces of whole milk a day. This is in addition to other dairy like yogurt or cheese.
