Not meaning to spark any religious debates here...I am just wondering what the crosses people place on the side of the road mean. I have seen them most often on highways but have started seeing them on residential streets. Are they memorial markers? Not wanting to seem disrespectful, just curious.

  • maybe you mean roadside memorials marking a spot where a loved one died in a car accident? Do the crosses have flowers on them or dates, names?

  • Yes--they have flowers for sure. I haven't stopped to see if they have dates or names.

  • Generally they're placed where someone died. There is a cross and several items left at the spot my brother was killed on his motorcycle.
