Breastfeeding and having your period?

I've been breastfeeding for 5 months and just now getting my period? Is this normal?

  • Totally. Anything concerning breast feeding and periods is normal, just because your cycle is so messed up that you could have a period every 2 weeks, or every 2 months. But the most normal is that you don't have one until 6 months or so.

  • Yup, Everyone is different. I didn't get it for 13 months, my friend got it after 2 months lol.

  • Yup very normal. Usually the less you nurse, the quicker your period will return. Which is why I haven't gotten mine yet after almost 15 months--DD still nurses 8-10 times daily.

  • Agreed with all the others. I didn't have one for 15-17 months. I have known women exclusively nursing and still got theirs at 2-3 months. Its different for each person

  • Yep. I didn't get mine until 17 months, but I know others who got theirs right away. Be thankful that you had this long of a reprieve!
