My 1 week old baby does not sleep during the daytime and is always showing signs of being hungry and I don't know why.

  • If the baby is showing signs of being hungry, feed her more! They can eat 3-4 ounces of food every 2-4 hours at that age... it's going to feel like you are CONSTANTLY feeding her, but it's normal. Almost every doctor will tell you to feed your baby whenever she's hungry... they will not over eat and you cannot spoil a baby.

  • If you are breastfeeding your milk may not be totally in yet...she is nursing a lot to get your supply up. It's nature's way of getting the milk supply going. If you are formula feeding she is hungry. If she is fed and still won't sleep I would look into gas or allergy issues. Something is making her uncomfortable to not sleep during the day- that is usually when babies sleep the most.
