Question for hair stylists, nail techs, estheticians

What % tip do you consider a good tip? When someone does a good job I want to tip well but not sure what the norm and what you'd consider good. I try to tip 20% or more if I really like the service and plan to return but is that too cheap?

  • 20% is great..more is better! lol.
but really, anything is appreciated. a tip shows you are happy and liked the service and plan on returning. also, 'great' tippers will more likely get reciprocated when emergencies happen, like you have to reschedule at last minute...if you're a consistant client who tips great, you're more likely to get your appointment moved around more conveniently, as opposed to a new client (with no history) or a 'bad' client (one who cancels a lot, no-shows, or doesn't tip at all).
that being said, i know not all clients CAN tip well, or at all..but there are other ways of showing appreciation for your services...such as being on time, consistant, and referring others. baked goods are great, too!
