When you don't know the meaning of a word do you go look it up or do you just let it go?

  • Depends. If it's imperative to the entire sentence/article/statement/whatever, then yeah, I'll look it up. But if it doesn't matter either way, I let it go.

  • Most of the time I look it up. I even make my kids look up words too.

  • I always look it up. I love words. I have a dictionary here at the computer, one by my bed for when I am reading before I go to sleep, and in the car in case I am listening to a radio show where a word is used that I don't know. I prefer a paper dictionary to looking words up on the computer, although I have done this, too, because it takes much longer on the computer.

  • It kind of depends on what I'm doing. If I'm at work, I look it up because as a medical coder it could make a HUGE difference. If I'm reading... it depends on how important the word is to the meaning of the sentence.
