  • At 8 month old my dd was gumming down fries (not fast food fries), pieces of bread, zwieback toast, gerber puffs and their vegetable crackers; she would gum down steamed/soft veggies as well and soft fruits such as bananas..

  • Avocado is a wonderful first food. So are bananas, and, of course, the usual rice cereals.

  • At 8 months I was cutting what we ate into bite sized pieces and putting it on their plates.

  • All 5 of my 8 month olds were eating table food either mashed or soft chunks. If it's baby's first food, I'd start with the cereals and fruits and veggies. Then add breads and cereals and then meats and cheeses. Wait on orange juice, eggs, peanuts, and honey, all those can cause allergies.
