Refinancing a VA loan

Has anyone ever refinanced a VA loan? Did you refinance using the VA's streamline loan, or did you refinance through a bank with a regular (not VA) loan? I am trying to find information but it seems like every site that I find is a 3rd party, and the VA's site isn't helpful. I would love to hear any firsthand experiences or advice you have. THANKS!

  • You can do either, as long as the new loan amount falls within the VA guidelines and the house still passes inspection (for the VA to VA refinance). I haven't actually refinanced a mortgage and my hubby isn't former military, but I was an underwriter for a while and "did" VA and FHA loans.
