diarrhea/virus - question

my 14mo had a minor stomach bug (vomitted 2x on tues). drank pedialyte for 1 day and has been on a BRATy diet. on wed, his poop started getting more softer/runnier, then he started farting A LOT. after 2 - 3 days of BRAT, mostly bananas, bread and yogurt, his poop now is kind of like the consistency of chunky peanut butter but looser. is that still considered diarrhea? It IS much softer than normal, but not necessarily watery. He's still farting more than normal and going many more times a day than usual - about 6 or 7x a day. he's drinking milk about 3x/day. stopped pedialyte after the first day. been having about 1 banana/day - half at breakfast, half at dinner. does it sound like he's improving and does diarrhea last a number of days like this? thanks for your help.

  • It can last a while. But if he's showing signs of dehydration, take him to the doctor or ER. The chunky peanut butter consistency sounds like he's improving. As long as the diarrhea goes away, its safe to assume he's getting better.

  • It's bulking up, and yes...he's getting better.

Keep it up with starches and carbs until he starts having normal poop.
