Bowel movements

My almost 5-month old son hasn't had a BM in -- well, today will be 4 days. We just started him on oatmeal and he is FF. He seems fine. Smiling and laughing, no signs of being upset. I'm starting to worry, but I'm not sure if I should give it another couple days or call the doctor tomorrow? We've given him karo syrup the last couple days and that usually works right away. Anyone else have this problem before?

  • How long has he been baby food? I notice a major change in my sons BM pattern when foods were introduced. For my son he goes more often (he had only been going 1/week) But my friends with babys the same age said their little one started not going as often.
As long as he is comfortable I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Since he's eating solids, I would offer an ounce or two of water with solid meals.

  • Try adding a little water to the oatmeal or his diet. Does his tummy feel hard(distended)? Hope this helps!!
