when do i take potty training to the next level?

My son is 28mo. he is pretty much potty trained. (If he has not been to the bathroom in a couple hours I have to tell him to go.) So I want to know, when should I teach him to wipe his own butt, and when do I teach him to stand up to pee?

  • You can start teaching him to wipe now. But don't be surprised if you have to help or "inspect" for another year or so.

I'd wait until he asks to stand up to pee. You'll have far less mess if he's sitting down, it doesn't harm him in any way, and the older he is, the more he'll enjoy target practice when he does want to stand up.
