Would you leave your child alone at midnight for an hour?

I saw this comment regarding an 11 year old and a 6 year old.

I would never do this. I would be so freaked out.

  • no. i would take his sleeping butt and strap him into the car - i bet in 5 min he would be back asleep. i wouldnt leave him alone a night - can you imagine being htat kid that wakes up to an empty house... unless they are old enough and aware of what to do in case of fire, emergencies, and it didnt scare them.. .its really wrong to do!

  • No I wouldn't. But I have seen those mothers on tv who work 3 jobs and claim to have no choice.

  • No I would not.

  • I will let my almost 12 YO stay home for a couple hours by himself. So yes, I probably would if it was absolutely necessary, as in an emergency situation. The 6 yo would be asleep and would not require watching. I would either wake the older child to let him know or leave a note, depending.

  • At 12 yrs old I was babysitting toddlers til the wee hours of the morning. That was only 20yrs ago. I would not leave my kids alone. I'm sure for the most part they would be fine, but it only takes a bit of curiosity to set the house on fire.... and when the cats away. You never know who might see your home as an easy target as well.
