Photography ideas with 5 year old boy?

I'm use to only doing small small children and babies.
What are some good prop ideas for photos of a 5 year old boy?
The photos will be done most likely at a local park..

  • Just focus on his face. Tell him a joke, something really funny then snap away. Fart jokes work best at that age.

  • my son at 5 1/2 did a session with a fast camera shutter of him simply jumping off a bench. it looked like he was flying!

also bring/borrow a skateboard for him to lay on, lose on, stand and "surf" on. super cute and lots of instant smiles

  • If he's into sports have him throwing or catching a ball, tossing a frisbee, whatever physical activity he normally engages in.

  • Some of the best photos I have of my son are non-posed. Try just following him around the park and see what he does you might find that you get some great pictures. For posed pictures you could try having him do what noel suggested.

  • you could have him climbing a tree, swinging on a branch of a tree, or have him standing on a big rock and have him look like he's looking for something or someone.
