  • wel you could call your doc right now if you are really concerned... and just tell her what happened, they usually have a doc on call

  • First, how long ago was your DD around the neighbor? Pneumonia doesnt happen immediately. Keep her suctioned out, run a cool mist vaporizer and if she is running a temp DONT bundle her up. If you bundle a child up that has a high fever the clothing contains the heat within them and makes the fever worse.

  • Cool mist vaporizor in the room tonight.
You can do saline drops for the nose- litle noses is the brand I use
    Tylenol for the fever
Baby vicks rub on the chest
Make sure she is breathing ok and not having trouble breathing. Watch for blue around the mouth
Call ped tomorrow morning for an appt
    Good luck!!!

  • Uhh, pnemonia isn't contagious.

  • BTW- Your DD does not have a fever. The temperature she is at does not warrant tylenol.
She has a cold. It's cold and flu season and just a coincidence that she is sick as well.

  • she was around him like 5 days ago, his ped said to keep an eye on her because she COULD get it

  • Pneumonia is not contagious, but the infection that caused it could be. So pay attention, but I highly doubt your lo will get pneumonia. Just listen to the suggestions of the other mothers here, prevention is the key!!

  • Actually some pneumonias are contagious... or at least the infection that causes the pneumonia. Such as a mycoplama pneumonia.
Other things right now like RSV are going around right now and also cause pnemonia in many children. RSV can cause cough, very snotty nose and fever.
If she is having a hard time breathing I would bring her to the doctor... otherwise just try to keep her comfortable at home. Suction out her nose, elevate her head.
Watch for tugging in of the skin around her neck and ribs and if she seems to be working hard count how fast she is breathing... count for a full minute when she is calm and if it's more than 40 then I would also see a doctor ASAP.
