LITTLE girls and make-up

Do you let you're little girls wear make-up?

Doll them up like those girls with Toddler and tirras?

Or just a little lip gloss and blush?

How to you feel about those moms who doll their girls up like toddler and tirras?
Or the womans that put a little lip gloss on their girls?

What age will you start letting your girl wear make-up?

  • My only daughter is eleven. She can wear lip gloss and that's it for now. She can wear makeup at 16, but still not real heavy. I don't really care how other moms let their daughters get fixed up. My opinion though is when a teenage girl or even younger wears to much makeup it takes away the natural beauty.

  • This question makes me glad I have a boy. But if I did have a girl, no way would I go the T&T route. If she wanted to play dress-up and that included make-up, fine. Its just playing. But serious use - I want to wear make-up all the time - not until jr. high and then only lightly. This was the rule when I was growing up and it still sounds good to me.

  • I put the glitter powder in her hair when we go out.

I don't like little girls looking like 20 year olds.

I'll her ware it at 16.
I'll tell her that is why 16 is a big deal lol..

  • My DD is 7 1/2. She likes to wear "lipstick" - as in lip balm that she keeps in her purse and applies fairly often. Sometimes it has a little sheen to it but mostly it's just boring old chapstick. On occasion she is allowed to play with make-up. It must come off before she leaves the house. When she was 4 and taking dance class she wore make-up onstage as part of the recital 'costume requirements.' Even still, we kept it low-key. I refused to allow it to be caked on to her. She wore some shimmer powder on her face, pink lip gloss and a little neutral toned blush.

She will be allowed to wear make-up in junior high. When I was that age my mom took me to a consultant at a make-up shop in the mall so I could be taught the 'right' way to wear make-up. Mostly we talked about skin care. They showed me how subtle colors look better than stark tones. I was allowed to wear pale shades of eye make-up. My DD will be the same.

  • my dd is 5, if she wants to wear a little makeup, she can only have really light eyeshadow and lip gloss, sometimes i'll let her do it herself with her little play makeup stuff but we don't leave the house until she's washed up

  • My daughter is 5. As far as I'm concerned, never would be too soon for make up. I don't wear any. I was, and am, a tom boy through and through so 1) I've never learned how to apply it so I don't look like a tramp, and 2) I've never been all that interested in wearing any.

If the time comes I'm going to have to give some serious thought to how much and at what age.

  • My dd is only 7 months so that's not happening yet.. but I'm sure by the age of 2
1 she'll be getting into my make up so i really wouldn't mind it at home just for play but for her to go out the house just lip gloss will do until she is 16 or it's Halloween... as far as that show.. i wont even get into that.

  • My dd is in 5th grade. I let her wear clear mascara and lip gloss. Lip gloss was the only thing she was allowed until this year. She came home and said some of the girls in her class were wearing mascara and she asked at what age I would allow it. She's a straight A student and generally a good kid so I told her if she would like some clear mascara I would get if for her. She is happy with it and feels very grown up using it.
I don't think full on makeup is appropriate for anyone under 16 and even then I think only for special occasions.
But I will take her to several makeup counters and a pro makeup artist when she's 13 to teach her how to put it on properly. My mom did for me and it kept me from doing the overkill on makeup that many teen girls do. I think it should always look natural.
