Is it normal for a one year old to throw fits when she doesn't get her way.

If i take something away from my daughter she is just terrible. she throws herself backwards and normaly just lays and kicks on the floor.

  • I would say that is totally normal. My son started doing that at about 15 months old. What got his attention is when i would lay down and throw a fit right next to him. He stopped what he was doing and looked at me like i was crazy. LOL.. it worked. we don't have too much problem with fits any more at 2½

  • It's only normal if you expect it from them. Neither one of mine EVER threw a fit, and they're 6 and 8 years old now. They knew we wouldn't put up with it, so they didn't do it. If you just say " Oh it's normal, it's just a phase" then she'll do it all the time. If you nip it in the bud right now, it won't be a problem. Kids act how you expect them to act.

  • Dont put up with it let her throw her fit b.c yes it is normal as long as she is somewhere safe and will not hurt then let her go at it good luck

  • It is normal. True not all kids are perfect and don't throw fits (lucky mom). But if you don't give in and are consistant they will go away eventually (until they are a teen...lol). If you give in they may keep it up to get their way. Alot of it is them testing you as well.
