What is one thing from NOW that people in the PAST would never believe we have or do now?

we seemed so advanced now that i can't imagine what the answers would be if you asked this 20 years from now. although i do know schools are trying to go paper-free and have all homework and text material be on an ipad. so i suppose my daughter will be asking me someday, "you mean you had to carry actual BOOKS to school!?!" LOL

How far back? Driving in cars and not horse drawn carriages would be something. As well as getting on an airplane and being 1000 miles away in just a few hours. Frozen pre-made meals, the microwave oven, washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers would freak them out. Even supermarkets and not having for forage for food is a great invention.

yeah..i was thinking along tnm's line..but with all the niceties of cell phones...let's face it..they aren't phones at all! they do everything but wipe your arse.
i mean, when was the last time you heard someone say they were buying a cell phone to use for the single purpose of calling someone? anymore, the 'icing on the cake' is that it makes calls.

Depends on how far back in the past. Can you imagine driving a car through the old west? Or showing them phones and light bulbs? Or birth control pills? When you think of all the things that have been invented to make our lives better, it's really amazing.

Children are shielded from everyday life for their own "safety".
A child can eat bacon or ham and not realize it comes from a pig.
There are families where the adults do all the work around the house and children have no responsibilities.
That we are so used to artificial flavors and genetically modified meat and produce, we can't say for sure what the actual thing is supposed to taste like.
