Can you freeze sauerkraut?

Or how long can I keep it in the fridge? Its cooked with onions and bacon, not just the kraut.

  • I'd say a week in the fridge, ( longer without the bacon) and probably wouldn't freeze to well. thawed result would be mushy and not so appetising. It's not a very expensive to make, ( time consuming, gosh yes) but really cheap to make, so toss what doesn't get eaten within a week.

  • Probably about a week. Kraut has a very high salt content. Remember though that th onions and bacon ill absorb some of that pickling liquid. No do not freeze it.
