Rewards for weight loss

Hey mommas!
A friend of mine (we are in a weight loss group together) had a great idea of rewarding herself with each 5 pound increment she lost ~ I am just wondering what some ideas to help keep the motivation up would be?

And please, I would like to keep the rewards to more material things (massage, pedi/mani, etc. and no so much food; ie chocolate cake. Just seems counter-productive to me).

Thanks ladies!!!

  • I'm not a huge fan of caloric rewards - all I think about when I eat that cheesecake is how hard I'll have to work to burn it off!!!
Maybe set set 10 or 20 pound incremental goals and reward yourself with a massage, a new shirt or new pants, new earrings, new something that you don't eat. Maybe treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure or something that isn't everyday!

  • My SIL rewarded herself with a new pair of panties every time she lost 5 lbs.

  • I was thinking a shirt or pants, but it probably depends on how much weight you have to loose.

  • new clothes or accessories

  • I like to reward myself with new jewelry or shoes. These are things that won't change with my size. A pretty pair of earrings or a new watch or a nice pair of running shoes is a good motivator for me. It's calorie-free, and I can still wear it when I'm 20 pounds lighter.

  • I reward myself with new earrings or some awesome socks (Im a sock freak) with small weight loss increments, and my hubby takes me out to a new movie release for bigger weight loss successes... Just saw Avengers 3D

  • I love buying a new, everyday, simple dress. It nice to indulge in a quality dress that will get a lot of wear. Check out James Perse.
