Ok, so I have PCOS, now what?

Was wondering what other women take or do to help with weight loss? Any special diets?

Has anyone on this site conceived after being diagnosed?

Thanks.

  • Yes. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 16-17 years. My OB put me on a very light medication to regulate my periods (otherwise my bleeding wouldn't stop, for weeks!)
My DH knew about PCOS and even then he wanted to wait 2 years before we thought about having kids.
When we were ready, my doctor put me on Metaformin (to regulate my insulin level, Im not diabetic, but women with PCOS, their bodies produce a little more than insulin than a women who doesn't has it) and said of I don't conceive in 6 months then she'll put me on clomid. But that wasn't necessary as I conceived 3 months later

  • I had 2 children before I was diagnosed. I was just about to go through testing when I got pregnant with my first after trying for 18 months. My OB suspected it, but since I got pregnant diagnosis wasn't necessary. Then my second was unplanned, so no problem there.

Then I wanted a 3rd. After 10 months of trying I went to a specialist who diagnosed me. I was put on metformin and actos. I lost a ton of weight. And after a total of 2 years and serious fertility drugs (shots in my stomach as the clomid didn't work for me) I got pregnant with my third.
