Baby holding bottle

What age did your child start holding a bottle? This is something i'm looking forward to and i was wondering when to expect it. He is almost 4 months and he will put his hands on his bottle but cant hold it.

  • I think my son held his own bottle at 5-6 months. I dunno if thats early or average. Hes done all his other physical milestones early so it could be but I have no idea what the average age is for that. I also couldn't wait for him to hold his own bottle so I could do something else while he eats, but then I end up holding him the whole time he eats because I miss feeding him his bottle lol.

  • 6 to 8 months is the average age. Why are you looking forward to it? Trust me when you beautiful baby turns into a sassy teen..........you will surely miss the hours you spent holding your baby feeding him or her there bottle. It may seem like a chore now........consider it a time for you to take a break and LOVE your child. Enjoy it.

  • My son never held his own...lazy little thing...my daughter refused to use her bottle after she was 9 months old but think I remember her holding it briefly at around 7 months. Lol. My kids aren't bottle friendly for some reason.

  • My dd just turned 8 mths. and I've had her off the bottle for about a week now. She never would hold it, but she'll hold her cup as long as it has handles, which is the only ones I've given her so far.

  • my son started "helping" us hold his bottle at 3-4 months. now at 5 months can hold it pretty well on his own but we still have a hand close by incase he drops it. And i still hold him while he eats just in case.
