  • When you look at the characteristics of Autism, remember that a child can have some of the symptoms, but not have Autism. If you really think your child has many of the characteristics, take him to a doctor to have him evaluated. The main characteristics are difficulty communicating, lack of eye contact, repetitive movements( hand flapping, spinning, anything they do over and over), sensitivity to certain textures of food, clothing, or aversion to touching certain textures, difficulty socializing with other adults and children(wants to play alone all the time) These are just a few and also know that now children can be categorized as being on the "Spectrum of Autism" A child may have classic characteristic of Autism or may have a milder form of the disorder and be labled PDD(Pervasive Development Disorder) If you son has one of the characteristics or maybe two, then he might not have the disability.
