Didn't Obama say that NO Lobbyist will be working in his Administration?

Geithner names ex-lobbyist as Treasury chief of staff
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-01-27-lobbyist_N.htm

WASHINGTON — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner picked a former Goldman Sachs lobbyist as a top aide Tuesday, the same day he announced rules aimed at reducing the role of lobbyists in agency decisions.
Mark Patterson will serve as Geithner's chief of staff at Treasury, which oversees the government's $700 billion financial bailout program.
Goldman Sachs received $10 billion of that money.

So, how does Obama define Lobbyist?

  • Obama is a politician like any other who rode in on a unicorn farting hope and change and people fell for it. Of course there will be lobbyists.

  • Seems to me that Obama has failed to realize that the INTERNET is going to be his nemesis! EVERYTHING that man says or does is going to be recorded and will travel around the world at warp speed and be "bookmarked" for future reference, and to "call him out" on his lies! LOL

Even the former Clinton News Network and Cambell Brown (who I loathe) are quickly realizing there is a "middle ground market" for reporting on our new leader! Wonder if he'll try and shut them down as well?!? LOL!

  • LOL.. Lorikeet. I can just see Obama/Pelosi trying to enact the fairness doctrine and it ending up shutting the likes of Campbell Brown down. LOL.. The irony would be fabulous.

  • Do you have any idea how many people in Washington USED TO BE lobbyists? A LOT Of them!! I believe Obama was trying to differentiate between lobbyists who engaged in less than reputable activities and those that didn't. After all, not all lobbyists are bad...without lobbyists, a lot wouldn't get done in Washington, in terms of promoting laws.

That's the point. Everyone has their own opinions of "I believes", because Obama made no clear distinction and no defined set of rules that he intended to lead nor follow.

  • He can say whatever he wants, because people will interpret his words to make him out to be the Golden President they want. Obama voters and the MSM are fooled by his articulation and oblivious to his lack of specifics.
