Should my daughter write thank you cards for this?

She had her dance recital and my mil brought her flowers and a pillow pet and my parents bought her earrings and a necklace. She told them thank you and hugged them but should she still send thank you cards for these?

  • She is 6 1/2. She has told them thank you several times but I have tried to instill in her how important it is to be grateful and thankful for what you get and especially when they didnt have to get her anything.

  • I wouldn't. They are grandparents. Too close for a formal thank you note in my opinion. Don't they get her gifts all the time? She could, it wouldn't be wrong, but I think if you are very close it is unnecessary.

  • Yes. I use to make them on the computer for my daughter using Publisher with pictures from the event. She would tell me what to say I would type it out and she would sign her name. I found out recently that her grandparents have kept every single one. Making them on the computer is a fast way -when they are so young it is hard on them to write so many notes - this is faster and you can get them in the mail within the required time frame.

  • Maybe take a picture of your dd with the item received, and add a caption to it saying "Thanks again!" And email it to them if they have email?
