when you save the cord blood.. is it true you can use that for siblings also??

  • It can be used for other family members if they are a match. I originally understood it can't be used by the child it came from, but apparently that is not always the case, depending on the disease being treated.

  • I was told that cord blood can be used for anyone in the family whose a match. It can't be used for the child who the blood came from. Weird.

  • When I had my 2nd the Dr. told me there was no need to store more cord blood since we already had my 1st child's.

  • Here in Michigan, we can donate our cord blood to a registry so if someone (anyone) needs it they can use it...like a blood band.
