Has anyone tried Pedia-Lax Liquid Glycerin Laxative Suppositories for thier 5 year old?

We tried two days of Miralax with no luck (he's 5). He just got over a bad cold & now he's constipated. Have you tried Pedia-Lax Liquid Glycerin Laxative Suppositories? I saw it on Walgreen's web site with good reviews. I called his Pediatrician & the nurse will only recommend Miralax over the phone otherwise I have to bring him in to see a Dr. He was just there Sunday because of his cold & they never give any meds so I really don't want to bring him in so the Dr. can tell me what to use over the counter. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

  • I gave my 5 year old Fleets Pedi-lax chewable tablets. It worked rather quickly. Than I gave a fiber bar daily for a couple weeks to be sure that she was on track.

  • Yes, I'm aware of how it is given. You need to clear any laxative with his pediatrician, especially a suppository.

And if you dilute the prune juice it's likely he won't have the same gastrointestinal issues that you do

This would be a safer alternative, if you're set on a laxative.

  • I'm not a strong proponent of laxatives for children.

Prune juice. A lot of water. Give it a couple of days

  • He hasn't had a bowel movement in 4 days & I take prune juice when I am constipated & I get terrible gas pains. This is given rectally.
