How do I keep my fresh lettuce from wilting

I love buy a variety of fresh greens like green leaf lettuce, romaine, spinach, I bring them home, wash them and lay them out to air. when everything is dry and "crisp" I put in a huge ziplock or just a bowl...the next day it's all wilted. I still eat it because I'm to mad about the money spent and not going to throw it out, lol

  • Put a moist paper towel in with them

  • And stop washing it and letting it dry then returning it to a bag wash it right before you eat it and shake it off. You're essentially killing it by doing that.

  • So store it until it's ready to use? and how do I use lemon juice, just squirt it on the leaves before storing?

  • i always wash mine. i do not let it lay out to dry and i do not dry it all the way - i use a salad spinner to get most of the moisture off, and store in a ziploc with the air sucked out - and if i use those extend fresh bags or whatever they are (not the green bags) it lasts a long time.
