Does anyone know what Edwards disease is?

A mother of one of our kids from daycare is pregnant and she was told her baby could have this.

Just wondered if anyone ever had any personal experience with this.

  • hello, my children went to a rehab center because they were premature and needed therapy after leaving the hospital. when i got theiri learned that not only ex preemies go there but also children who have disabilities and certain conditions..i became friends with a mother who has a daughter with trisomy 18 or edwards disease. im sorry to say but its very sad her daughter is ona ventilator and has had numerous heart surguries, the doctors didndt even want to perform the surguries on the baby because her chances of living are very low. in her case most children die at birth, some dont live past 6 months to a year..only one person lived to be 33, but they have severe mental retardation and poor health all around. her daughter is seven months old and is beating the odds, but she barley moves. im sorry to be the bearer of bad news..but nomatter how grim it looks there is always a bit of silver lining on a grey cloud

  • Thank you for the information.

I have heard of Trisomy 18, very similar to downs syndrome, an extra chromosome or something.
