Do you or your S/O do sales from home?

If so, may I ask what you sell and is it working. Are you making enough to make ends meet?

Curious, because my SO is wanting to work from home doing sales...

  • Does he know what he wants to do? Does he want to sell on eBay, or just sell his products through a website? Or do you just mean home-based? We own several small businesses at various malls. My job consists of basically collecting the money, making deposits, and any other things that are needed of me. I have sold items on eBay and love doing that too. I've also gone through Real Estate School. I have lots of ideas, just haven't put them into force yet...

  • yes. we mainly sell fertilizer, but it is not a direct thing - we only earn commissions. definitely not enough to make a living but a nice bonus in the fall and spring - and i mean nice! the company we are with is amazing. my hubby also owns his business and works from home - it is almost enough to keep our heads above water.

  • My DH has worked out of our home for most of his career (30 years). He sells all sorts of high tech products. He had his own comapny for over 12 years representing several companies' products. And then worked for one company selling their product only. They assign a territory and he sells in that territory.

  • Meaning he will be doing sales at home from the telephone or computer? Does he have a company in mind? We have an call center in town that represents Sprint. You can work from home, but you have to take a 4-5 week training course on site first. It's a lot of work. You cannot have any distractions from home while you are working. Your calls are constantly being monitored the whole time you work. If one outside noise is found, you will be fired. I was not able to do it where I lived because you have to either have DSL or cable. At the time, I only had satellite.

Have him give it a shot and see how it goes... that's all you can do.
