Sleeping on the belly...

my son is almost 8mos old, and I've noticed at night he rolls over in his sleep or he'll do it right before he falls asleep. Is this ok?

  • My 5-month old does that all the time too! I go in and flip him back over everytime. I'm sure he's fine but sometimes his head is barely to the side so it kind of freaks me out.

  • He's just fine. He's able to roll himself around, so no worries!

  • He's fine, I don't see the big deal with babies sleeping on their bellies, when my boys were little I was told to always put them asleep on their bellies and now it's their backs. My daughter wouldn't sleep on her back, she slept on her belly from day one.

  • I do not believe children should be put to sleep on their tummies until they are VERY good at rolling over themselves (so usually around 6 months). Once they can roll over themselves, and have good head control (can turn their head side to side while laying on their tummy) I think sleeping on the belly is fine.

  • My son is a belly sleeper and has been since he was about 1 month old - that was the only way he would sleep - if we put him on his back he would wake himself up and not go back to sleep.
