  • It's been this way for a long time, but very seldom does any mention of such atrocities make the news. What you saw on that video is government health care at it's finest, and that's what so many people in this country are pushing for and say they want.

I don't know if those people are stupid, or if they truly don't understand what they're asking for ~ but neither reason is acceptable.

We don't have health care in this country. We have a medical business, and the bottom line is profit. It doesn't matter how much a person suffers. The rules and regulations are set up so that every penny the gov't. gives, it gets back ten-fold ~ even if people end up homeless and worse off. Tricare isn't 'quite' to the point of Medicaid, but Medicare is fast getting there, and Tricare will as well if people don't stand up and demand reform.

It's insurance companies that created this mess, and that's where reform needs to start.

  • It IS Obamacare. It's his baby; he can rock it.

Medicaid did this. If she had gone to the nursing home, they would have lost their actual home because of how Social Security is set up with nursing home care. That's government health care. That's what the "Affordable Care Act" aka Obamacare is leading all of us to. No one should have to choose like this.

Yes, cut spending. Take away the NCLB and let the states run education again. Schools were better then. Eliminate retirement benefits for Congress members and presidents. Cut salaries. There are other places that money can be cut. I have a list much longer than this. Cut the waste.

What this couple is enduring is shameful. Our elderly deserve respect and better treatment than this.

  • cont. ~ The people in this country have allowed a bunch of bean counters to dictate health care instead of doctors and actual health care professionals. They allow the corrupt FDA to ok meds that are toxic because the pill makers get jobs overseeing what is/isn't allowed. Nothing that actually cures or heals something is allowed because a pill or ointment that works cuts into profits. Healthy people make a medical business go broke. And a great many people themselves are equally to blame. They WANT a pill for everything. If they get told they have to take it until they die, they don't care ... because they got the prescription. What I don't understand is how so many miss the fact that they are still SICK. Some get sicker and need MORE pills. I'm beginning to think people get warm fuzzies when a 'new' disease is invent ... er discovered. Meanwhile, people like the woman in this video suffer more every day ~ for a gov't. profit.

  • Its NOT "Obamacare",by the way. Answer by lga1965

    Oh, but it is:

On the second anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, the Obama campaign has decided to own "Obamacare," the term often ascribed to the health care law by its critics.

Even from what I can only guess you think is an acceptable source:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/23/obamacare-obama-campaign_n_1376027.html

  • This is what makes me wonder why so many want single payer and/or Obame-care. Medicare and medicaid  are both single payer. This is what your government run health care is.

My husband and I are both on medicare and we have to buy private insurance to pay for all the stuff that medicare does not pay for.

You young folks have fun with your government run Obama-care.

  • ".. but this kind of thing is NOT new. ..."IGA
Granted....but it still doesn't mean it was right then nor is it right now. And IMO, Obamacare is gonna make it even worse. When and if all Americans do get some kind of health coverage, the medical systems are really gonna be packed with folks now, and we are experiencing a doctor shortage now and a nurse shortage. And with Medicaid spend downs, some people gonna have to to go to the doctor a lot every month if they want medicaid to cover their expenses, which will really jam up private clinics, the family practice clinics, hospitals, ER's etc. You may have to wait 2 months before you get an appt with a doctor just for a routine exam. No more next day appts anymore, next month appts maybe...

  • A story very similar happened to my 70 year old neighbor that used to live next door.
He suffered from crippling Rheumotoid Arthritis. Infection settled in his lower legs which literally left holes in his legs. His wife would pack these holes the way she was taught because Medicare wouldn't provide a nurse to help her.
Gangrene set in both legs due to infection and he had to have both legs amputated. After 2 years he passed away.
This is my little 83 year old lady friend that I take shopping every week. I promised her husband I'd take care of her.

I just don't understand and it pisses me off!

  • Anyway, I am satisfied that the Affordable Care Act will be good for us all. Its NOT "Obamacare",by the way.

LOL, so they are the Bush Tax Cuts, even though Obama signed on to them. But even though Obama pushed this health care plan across the US, it isn't called ObamaCare?  Your hypocrisy is showing...  Psssst Obama OWNS the huge mess that is ObamaCare.  Ignorance=Complacency without Accountability=Satisfaction  <--- Good for you.

  • Beginning in 2014, states will be asked to cover all individuals younger than 65 with incomes up to 133 percent of the poverty level. Although the federal government will initially fund 100 percent of that expansion, by 2017, states will be responsible for 5 percent of those costs, with that number increasing to 10 percent by the end of the decade. Like me, I am also on medicaid. I have a 'spend down' of $625 a month. Another words, I have to basically incur that amount every month before medicaid will pay for it. This is what WILL happen to others as well. The federal govt tells everyone you have to have health coverage, sure piece of fucking cake. Most will qualify now when they may not have before, like me. But then the state will give you a spend down of whatever amount of money a month yo have to spend every month. Does anyone see what it will look like in the future? The future isn't looking very bright.
