Oh please tell me I have a right to hate Memorial weekend
I dread it...I hate it.... I resent it!
Why?
Because it is an excuse for people to party, drink, drive , kill themselves and leave their kids with out their parent.
my dad partied this weekend on this very day 30 yrs ago and the pain and anger is still there. He drove off a cliff and because of this I grew up without ever knowing what it means to have 2 parents.
This is one weekend where I have always felt nothing but hostility for. Sorry. The pain will never go away.
Please do not drink and drive...your kids need you

Memorial day is to remember those that have served and those that we have lost in war. Not a free for all and drink to our hearts content. Sorry.
Hope things change.

I feel the same. This is one of the many reasons why I don't drink alcohol.
I'm 420 friendly, though. It's much safer and more beneficial than any poison in alcohol.

You have the right to hate whatever you want. Your feelings are yours; what matters is your ACTIONS. As long as you don't decide to torch every bar and liquor store in town, hate away.

Anytime we lose a loved one in any tragic accident we mourn their loss ever year on that specific day. You have a right to hate the day your dad died regardless to what day that is. Many people hate superbowl sunday for the same reasons.

So sorry for your loss. I know the pain of losing a loved one to a drunk driver. Earning that life-time membership to MADD is not something anyone should strive for. My boys' father also died of an accidental OD, so I understand your range of emotions. Something so tragic, yet so preventable. It's a combination of being angry at them for doing something so stupid & for robbing you of the life you imagined w/ them in it. I hope you have picture, memento's & many fond memories to find comfort in as you grieve. **Hugs**

I come from a military family as well and my ex husband's side of the family (including him) is all military as well. the only celebrating we do around here is for the sacrifices & remembrances of our military.

I am that way about Thanksgiving. My father was killed in 2010 by a 17 year old jackass who was texting and ran a red light. I had a fear of being on the road during drinking holidays before it happened and my fears were justified.

Sorry for your loss. My 3 day weekend is being spent at home with my 3 year old while my husband works. Today he even did a double shift. No partying here. Not even a BBQ.
