  • Doesn't make any sense to me. Is watching Disney a bad thing?

  • Nope, but your house your rules :)

I curse like a drunken sailor in front of mine too, but if they even say the word "crap" I get all righteous on their ass, lol

  • Apples & Oranges. I try hard not to swear, but when I do, that does not give her the right to say it. As for Disney Channel, I guess it depends on their ages & what shows you deem inappropriate. They are your children & it's your right as their parent to raise them in a way you see fit.  :)

  • Oh, it's somebody you know & it doesn't make sense to you that they "protect" their children from watching the Disney channel but they have no issue with swearing in front of the children?

I think I agree with the apples & oranges comment. A person can find Disney inappropriate or undesirable for whatever reason. The same person might also use profanity around their children.

I haven't bothered to look into Disney's programming but I can understand that someone could find it objectionable & just say No to it. The issues (when it comes to censoring exposure & influences) go further than profanity so I don't think it's an automatic/obvious double standard.

I can understand you feeling put-off by it if the judgment against Disney seems to extend to you (as in Why would any caring parent allow it?) Then you might feel like, What's up with being so careful about "No Disney" but completely ignoring the issue of constant swearing?
