I'd like to thank my birth mother for everything she did, even in a letter if she doesn't want to meet me. I also have no known family medical history and owe it to my son to find out what he and I are genetically predisposed to. I would like to find out more about my genetic family as well as at least write a letter to my bmom. I kinda want to know what she looks like too :-) I don't know her name or anything about her. I know the city where I was born but not what hospital. I of course know my birthdate. I know her age and therefore the year she must have been born in. I have been denied any records identifying her by the state of Tennessee (where I was born/adopted) and by my private adoption agency (closed adoption). I can't afford a private detective right now. What else can I do? :-(

You don't need to justify wanting to meet your birth mother or birth family. It's only natural to want to know who you look like and what your heritage is. Have you asked your parents what records they have?
