Did your babies ever have blue eyes?

Before I had my son and a few times after I've had a few people tell me that Caucasian babies always have blue eyes at birth. Being a person of mixed heritage and my husband is also I wasn't sure what to expect for our kids. DS was born with dark gray and now has greenish brown but I wonder if that's just us because I do know a lot of blue eyed babies(but I also live in an area that is very Scandinavian so that might be all that is).

Did your babies have blue eyes at birth? Do a lot of babies you know have blue eyes at birth?
I know it's a strange question but i was just curious.

  • No, none had blue eyes immediately at birth. They were typical baby eye; greyish/brownish/blueish lol

By about six weeks the true color locked in. Blue for all three

  • both of mine had blue eyes as soon as they opened them. but then DH has green eyes and mine are the chances of anything but blue were pretty small.

my brother had brown eyes at birth, as did my mom, her sister, and their mom...or so they say.

  • Both of my girls were born with grayish blue eyes. My oldest's eyes finally set at almost 4 yrs old to green. My youngest is 2 1/2 and her eyes can look grayish blue, bright blue, bluish green or green at any given moment so, they still haven't set yet.

  • Not all caucasians are born with blue eyes. I have 3 blue- nieces and one brown-eyed nephew.

Mine are green and DH are grey. Our DD has blue, but they may change later. Mine were blue till I was around 12.

  • DD had really dark blue eyes when she was born. They almost looked black lol. It was a little scary at night because it looked like her whole eyeball was black. They're a pretty light blue now, but I think they'll turn green.

  • Nope. I have bright blues and my baby never had any blue in her eyes

  • The majority of babies are born with an indeterminate blueish color for eye color. By around six months or so (sometimes a Lot later) the eye color settles into its final coloring.

I'm a mix of a LOT of different heritages. Mostly Caucasian though. My son has green-gray eyes my daughter has brown. They BOTH had that funky blue-gray color for the longest time. My husband has brown eyes. I have blue-green-gray.

  • Mine had both dark grey eyes. One of them developed deep green eyes and the other beautiful golden brown eyes. However, I was a little disappointed because I have extremely bright blue eyes (runs in the family) and neither had them! That completes an entire generation on both sides of the family without blue eyes ...
