  • It is when you government controls your industry and lives. From who your doctors can be, to what is ok for you to eat, what you cannot do etc.
Basically they give you everything and take everything away.

  • And all of the countries that have touted the fabulous nature of socialism, are trying to go back to capitalism...cause it ain't working! Yet, a certain President and key liberal democrats would LIKE to see the US become a socialist country.

  • Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and an egalitarian society characterized by equal opportunities for all individuals and a fair or egalitarian distribution of wealth.

Doesn't sound too bad to me...

  • LoriKeet, Obama is NOT a socialist...not even close! There is a socialist party in the U.S. and if you look up the interview between Stephen Colbert and the 2008 candidate of the socialist party Brian Moore, he will be more than happy to tell you why Obama is NOT a socialist. IhartU, yes, socialism sounds great in theory, but it never works out like it is supposed to because people are greedy. That will never change.

  • Essentially it is what a church does. Collects money from everyone that can afford it and distributes it to those that cannot afford basic necessities.

  • I did, do I get a cookie? ;)

But I would have to say that socialism and capitalism have always existed together, but neither can exist without the other. :)
