Breastfeeding help!

I have an extremely fast let-down and my new little guy ends up gulping down a lot of air trying not to choke on it all at once. Anyone have any tips on dealing with this??

  • I didn't have that problem, however I've heard that if you lay on your side with your little guy next to you that can help. It's apparently the gravity that makes it hard for them. Try that and see if it works. Good luck!

  • You might want to try pumping first for a little bit, until your milk slows down. You can save your milk for baby.

  • You may want to pump or use your hands to let some of your milk down in a cup before letting him latch, that should help with the extra flow that is causing him trouble =)

  • Hand release a little bit before giving it to him.
