Paranormal possession to blame?

Opinions on parents who claim "demons" or the devil told them to harm their seed?

I'm curious
Do you think they're insane? Are they excusing their actions or is there a possibility there's something darker in the shadows we can't see?

No arguing or rude remarks, this is a free , open minded opinion question!

  • It's either Schizophrenia or a poor excuse... "the devil made me do it" is the biggest cop out there is! They either need to step up and take responsibility or admit they are insane and get help...

  • I think it is serious mental health issues and they have no idea they have them. They honestly believe what they are saying. That is the scary part.

  • Everyone is resposnible for his own behavior... There is no "the devil made me do it". God never once says you are unaccountable and blameless for the choices you make.... People who attempt that route are generally mentally ill and in true torment from their delusions. I have sympathy for the mental and emotional pain they must endure, but there is still accountability.

  • They are mentally ill with some form of paranoid schizophrenia. I've worked with patients who have claimed to have seen & heard angels and demons, while they were unmedicated.
