Potty training help!

My daughter is 2 and half. She is pretty much potty trained. She is dry through naps and the night. The only issue is going number 2! She has yet to go on the potty she just holds it until i put a diaper on her at night or cries and asks for a diaper. I don;t know how to get her to go on the potty. With that said she does have trouble going she has to sit in a certain position to go..
Any ideas???

  • If it's hard for her to push it out then she may need more fiber or liquids (if you do more fiber then adding more liquids will be necessary otherwise it will make constipation worse). Depending on what she eats you can also cut some of the binding foods from her diet as well (bananas and cheese are binding). Other than that I would just say be patient and she will get there. Pushing it could kick off more difficult problems that you don't want to have to deal with.

  • What time of day does she normally go #2?

Give her some prune juice 30-60 minutes prior, wait for the face, sit her on the potty with a book and wait (10-15 mins max) celebrate the accomplishment

Should work- if not, relax and let her guide the experience

  • She doesn't have a set time! It is different everyday! That's what''s hard to deal with, Sometimes she won't go at all during the day. In the past i had to give her miralax to help her go but she seemed to be doing okay without it.

  • Hi
We are having issues getting dd#3 to do poos on the potty too....but she just hides and does it in her undies. I read on another blog that a mom took a diaper and cut a hole in it and put the child on the potty. She said it worked. I think it is brilliant and again, I haven't tried it but if my daughter requested a diaper to do her business, I would def try this.
    Good Luck and God Bless
