ear infection 9 1/2 month old (kinda gross question)

My son has an ear infection and has been on amoxicillian since tuesday. He is not eating much and when i called they said that is normal. He hasn't really pooped either, its just kinda like he has stinky wet farts....any advice here is greatly appreciated!

  • it could be a side effect of the antibiotic, it messes with your digestive system.
    trying offering him some probiotic. you can find it for infants at most health food stores or vitamin shops.
    also, if you are breastfeeding him then you can take a supplement yourself and that should help him as well.

  • Constipation really isn't the frequency of BM, it is the consistency...hard, straining, etc..because water isn't be absorbed to loosen it..
    If he isn't eating much, then he won't have much waste. I wouldn't worry about it too much if he isn't fussy, experiencing abdominal pain, etc.

  • Poor baby. I'd try some Pedialyte and maybe mix a LITTLE (not more than 2 baby spoonfuls) of prunes into some ceral. I hope he gets better soon!

  • My son had the same problem when he was on amoxicillian for an ear infection. After he finishes his meds his poo should return to normal.
