Does gestational diabetes go away after you have your baby?

  • Sometimes but not always. Most women who have it, it goes away. BUT most women end up with diabetes later in life. I had gestational diabetes with two pgs and I am now diabetic. Once you have gestational diabetes they will treat you like you always have it. Once you have that label good luck with insurance.

  • Yes,it does.
    However,unless diabetes happened to service for you at that time,it will not once the baby is born but if it is related to the baby only than yes.

  • As long as you eat right and take care of yourself. I know someone who it took 6 years to go away, but it did eventually. She didn't have healthy eating habits and didn't exercise at all so that's why it took so long.
