what is a good amount of words to type a minute

im trying to apply for a job and I type 125. is that good?

    You type 124wpm?! HOLY COW! Generally most places like 70-80wpm and sometimes as low as 40-45!

  • ohh ok! see i honestly wasn't sure how much your suppose to type or what was good. thanks! yeah i've typed PLENTY in my lifetime so i have LOTS of practice.. lol

  • Most places look for around 70-90 in my experience. As a receptionist, I did about 85. I have never known anyone around 125! That is awesome. I would imagine you could get a job anywhere without your WPM being an issue.

  • I noticed most of them are 45-50. 50 Is really good I think your normally safe with 50.

  • It depends on your accuracy too, not just speed. I used to type 75 wpm with 98% accuracy.

  • I think you're good and safe with that. I type about 80 wpm and I've never had an employer require more than that...usually more like 50 wpm.

  • Yes, that's very good. What's the accruacy? when I first learned to type I was up to 80 wmp, and that was above average for the class, but a requiremet for any typing jobs. Now that I don't use it as much, I doubt I type 40 wpm! :)
