Migraines

Ugh ever since I had my beautiful little girl the day before I start and the day after I stop I get these migraines that are unbearable. They drop me for the entire day. Any suggestions?

  • Ibuprofen, blinds/curtains closed, clear your mind and take a nap. That always works for me

  • Hubby keeps cold (sometimes frozen) wash clothes and ice packs on his head and neck. Seems to help him a little.

  • Talk to your Dr. about meds to take - esp. if you are nursing. The downside is, they work best if you catch them at the beginning of the headache. Don't work as well if you wake up w/ the headache. Hope you get some relief. Hormones suck sometimes.

  • Are these the kind that make you vomit? Do you stay well hydrated and try to manage your stress? Also, too much salt and too much sugar can contribute. Caffeine helps me with headaches but if it's a true migraine, I end up in the hospital with a shot in my arm.

  • Try to rest as much as you can if it occurs. You might see about getting into the doctor and asking her questions. I have horrible migraines and I take medication for it. Two different kinds and they help quite a bit.

  • Are you referring to before and after your period? You need Treximet. Best for menstrual migraines. It's because your hormones have changed.
Also- watch caffeine intake (not too much, not too little), certain foods (vinegar and salad dressings, garlic, onions, chocolate, hard cheeses), and make sure you are getting enough sleep!
Pheromones will also help. They trigger the release of oxytocin, which is nature's pain medicine.
