(If you do not allow Barbies in your home then this is not the question for you. I completely get that some people do not allow their daughters to play with them... )
So, DD has numerous Barbies at her Grand mothers house. All between 50 and 15 years old! Any way she was so proud today to buy her very own Barbie for our house with her own money. It was one of the cheap 6 dollar swim suit clad ones at Target. As I was taking it out of the box I noticed it was 100% hard plastic... arms, legs, all of it head to toe. I thought it was odd and found it a bit sad... I remember my Barbie legs bending... but thought nothing of it until she was dancing it across the side walk while I waited for DH to return a coke we had just bought that was flat. As she made it dance across the sidewalk it's foot split in half. Not all the way and not terribly-still playable- but it does look split. In fact it looks worse than it is... anyway to my question, I swear I have one...
Are all Barbies made of this hard plastic that breaks or just these little cheapies? What is your experience with quality. This is the first new Barbie I have seen out of the box since my niece was 8 or 9 or so. Like 10 years ago!

My dau has some newer ones & their legs bend. Some of the cheaper ones aren't that great. You usually need to spend over $10.00 to get a better quality Barbie. Hold onto the older ones & treat them well! Even out of the box, they are usually worth a little bit. Besides, she can always pass them down to her own children some day. I did! :)
