  • Sounds like they want your money. SIDS occurs from a lack of oxygen or re-breathing. Find a quilt top waterproof mattress pad for protection and breathability, and a tight fitted crib sheet. No bumper, no pillows, no blankets, no toys. And a really good baby monitor. It doesn't have to be exspensive either. We have a fisher price lights and sounds. Works great. Put it right next to the crib and you can hear the baby breath.

Once your baby can roll over on their own consider yourself in the safer area. If they can move them self out of the situation where they can't breath they can help keep them self safe.

    Good luck.

  • There are many causes of SIDS and toxic gases are one of them. The product is real and does help. You could just buy a new crib matress for each baby as it is the old/used one that release the gas. If you look at stats it is more common for the 2nd or more baby to die from SIDS than the 1st born, also babies from lower income are more likly to die from SIDS too.
So this product can help the babies that could be affected by these stats.

  • The chemicals Sprott was claiming were causing toxic gasses were from fire retardants used years ago. They're not even used any more to make mattresses.

Mattresses do not give off toxic gasses. The guy found a way to prey on a mother's fears and make a quick buck. He's a quack.

  • Besides...if someone had TRULY found a way to completely prevent SIDS as this thing would be news world wide, all mattresses would be wrapped, and there would be absolutely NO SIDS deaths any more.

  • Too bad it only prevents suffocation from the crib sheet which rarely is the case anyone. All you need is a nice snug fitting crib sheet and you'd have the same thing.

  • From experience, nothing is going to prevent SIDS. But with our 2nd and 3rd child we put them on the Angel Care Monitors and a doctor prescribed apnea monitors. The apnea monitors was connected directly to them and would sound if their breathing was outside of a preset range. We used the apnea monitors up until 6 months; that was just about the time when they really started moving more and it was getting harder to keep them swaddled. The Angel Care detected sound and movement. If there was no breathing or movement within a certain amount of time, the alarm would sound. Nothing will prevent it but the monitors helped to give us peace of mind.
